NMC JOINS THE OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP PROGRAM

Every year, 30 billion tons of pellets, flakes and powder discharge are rejected in the oceans.
NMC joins the Operation Clean Sweep program (
www.opcleansweep.org) initiated first in the U.S. during the 90s by the Plastics Industry Association and now relayed to Europe via environmental national and international associations, in order to reduce this pollution.

A WORDWIDE INITIATIVE

NMC is an international market leader in the field of development, production and marketing of synthetic foam. Hubert Bosten, CEO of the NMC Group, encourages all the operational sites of NMC to act locally towards good housekeeping and pellet containment practices. By doing so, all the subsidiaries are sensitizing their collaborators to act every day towards this common objective.

Joining this program is one of the big steps that NMC has already taken and will take in the future in order to leave a better word to the next generations”, says Hubert Bosten, CEO of the NMC Group.

This initiative has started at NMC’s main operational site in Eynatten, Belgium, who signed the Operation Clean Sweep program agreement via the Belgian federation of chemical industry and life sciences, ESSENSCIA.

SUSTAINABLE ACTION PLAN

The Operation Clean Sweep program is planned and implemented step-by-step and rolled-out across all the subsidiaries of NMC Group.

Every operational site has already been sensitized to make “zero pellet loss” a priority. We have run an audit of the current situation and have identified the actions to take in order to improve this situation. This goes from better pellet housekeeping in our plants, to advanced measures avoiding pellet loss in the air or water.

We are now planning the implementation of these improvements within our production facilities.
The cooperation of all NMC collaborators and business partners is key to the success of this program.
